Structure that a child can trust.
The day runs from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday. It opens with a greeting at the door, gives way to a long and uninterrupted work cycle, moves outdoors, gathers around a freshly prepared meal, and closes calmly with families. The order rarely changes, and children come to rely on it.
From the greeting to the handover.
Arrival and greeting
Each child is greeted by name at the door of the environment, removes their own shoes, hangs their own bag and chooses their first work. The grace and courtesy lessons begin at the door.
The work cycle
The long, uninterrupted stretch at the heart of the Montessori day. Mentors give individual presentations; children choose, work, repeat and return materials to the shelf. Practical life, sensorial work, language, mathematics and the cultural subjects all happen here, at each child's own pace.
Snack and care of the environment
Food preparation, laying and clearing are practical life work. Children serve themselves and one another and restore the room.
The outdoors and Montessori Sports
The outdoor play zone with its sandpit and gardening patches, and movement work led as a core developmental pillar: balance, coordination, rule-based games and joyful, non-competitive activity.
Circle, music and mindfulness
The community gathers: a story, songs and movement, a grace and courtesy lesson, a moment of mindfulness.
The meal

Departure

A written rhythm for every family.
Across the Ardee Schools, every family receives the child's Structure of the Day when the child joins: a written account of the rhythm the child will live by, so that home and school can keep the same order. In the House the structure is simple, and it is kept. Children who know what comes next are free to give their whole attention to what is in front of them.
Timings differ between environments. The hours above are those of the Montessori environments as stated in the prospectus; NIDO follows its own session pattern.
A shorter day, shared.
The youngest children come to the House with a parent. A NIDO session is shorter than the Montessori day and is built around a small number of purposeful materials, unhurried movement in the Montessori mobility zone, language, song and the quiet business of learning to be in a room with others. The parent is not an observer but a participant, and the mentor's guidance is for both.

Connected, without interrupting.
Parents do not need to be in the room to know the day. Photos, updates and classroom observations reach families through the daily parent communication app, so that a conversation at home can begin with what actually happened: the work chosen, the presentation received, the friend helped. This transparent home and school bridge supports shared understanding and builds trust.
Before a child joins, and at any time afterwards, families are invited to tour the House, virtually and in person.
The areas of learning.
The programme spans practical life activities, sensorial education, cultural subjects, mathematics and language arts, with performing arts, mindfulness and grace and courtesy lessons woven through every day.

Materials that isolate one quality at a time, so the senses become instruments of classification.

Music, movement and performance as part of the programme in every environment.

Calm environments, respectful relationships and purposeful work that nurtures self-discipline, empathy and responsibility.

At Ardee Montessori Houses, sports is positioned not as an extracurricular add-on, but as a core developmental pillar aligned with Montessori philosophy, child psychology, and contemporary best practices in movement education. The programme supports gross motor development and neuromuscular coordination, builds executive function through rule-based games, fosters self-discipline, resilience and teamwork, and encourages joyful, non-competitive engagement with physical activity.
The emphasis is on process over performance and personal mastery over comparison.

Cambridge Primary, the feeder pathway.
The Houses are the first stage of the Ardee Academic Continuum. Cambridge Primary at The Ardee School is the feeder pathway that follows, and the continuum runs without a change of philosophy through Cambridge Lower Secondary, the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge International Advanced Levels (A Levels).
