Ardeeology

The Ardee way of educating.

Ardeeology is the name given to the way Ardee educates: the convictions, habits and structures that have shaped the school since it opened as a Montessori House in New Delhi in 2003, and that now run without interruption from the youngest child in a House to the last examination at The Ardee School.

Where it began

A Montessori House first.

The Ardee School was established in 2003 with a clear vision to deliver a values-led, globally minded education, beginning with a strong Montessori foundation. Its first campus was a Montessori House in New Delhi, and the choice was deliberate: the group's founder, the late Shri Ashok Varma, former Chairman of The Ardee Group and former President of the Fore School of Management, held an unwavering belief in the power of education and a progressive approach to it. His values of progressive thinking, humility and social responsibility remain the foundational philosophy of the school.

The school's guiding phrase, Be the Change, follows the vision advocated by Gandhiji. In 2007 the group introduced the Cambridge curriculum and grew into a full Kindergarten to Class 12 (K-12) pathway. In 2017 its green campus was recognised among North India's finest with the Best School Building Award. Today The Ardee Schools operate multiple campuses, including dedicated Montessori settings and K-12 schools in New Friends Colony, Munirka, Gurugram, Noida and Goa.

Three understandings

Oneself, others, the world.

Ardee holds that education begins with understanding oneself, understanding others, and understanding the world around us. Academic excellence matters, not as a final goal, but as a way to open doors to new ideas, fresh perspectives and meaningful opportunities. In a Montessori House, each of the three understandings has a concrete home.

Oneself

Practical life and independence

Pouring, dressing, preparing food and caring for the environment give the child a working knowledge of their own capability. Confidence, discipline and ownership of one's actions begin here.

Others

Grace and courtesy

The daily lessons of grace and courtesy, the mixed-age community and peace education teach children to act with empathy, work together with respect, and lead with quiet confidence.

The world

Cultural subjects

Geography, botany, zoology, history and the arts, presented through real materials, so that a global outlook is absorbed rather than taught.

The mentor

Character, knowledge and curiosity.

Across the Ardee Schools, teachers are mentors. They are appointed for their depth of knowledge, strength of character, and their ability to inspire intellectual curiosity and high standards of achievement. In the Houses this means certified Montessori educators who understand early-years development thoroughly and who guide through observation rather than instruction.

The group prepares its own educators. The Ardee Montessori Teacher Training Centre trains mentors across the Ardee Schools network through immersive training in Montessori philosophy, child psychology and contemporary classroom practice, in person and in hybrid cohorts, including a Montessori diploma for the three-to-six age group. It operates at New Friends Colony and Munirka, with Noida and Gurugram to follow.

One continuum

From the first environment to the last examination.

The Ardee Academic Continuum runs from authentic Montessori foundations through Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge International Advanced Levels (A Levels). The Montessori Houses are its first stage, and Cambridge Primary at The Ardee School is the feeder pathway that follows.

Nine Pathways

Where the Nine Pathways begin.

The Ardee School organises life beyond the curriculum around its Nine Pathways to Excellence, the Centres of Excellence. Each has its beginning in the House, in a form suited to the first plane of development.

Environmental Sustainability

Gardening patches in the outdoor play zone and the daily care of the environment.

Leadership and Community

Grace and courtesy, the mixed-age community, and the responsibility that freedom within limits brings.

Spiritual Intelligence

Mindfulness, peace education and emotional expression, woven into the routine of every environment.

World Studies

Cultural subjects: puzzle maps, nomenclature cards and the living world.

Media and Digital Citizenship

A pathway of the primary and secondary years; the House lays its groundwork in concentration, sequence and care.

Aesthetic and Performing Arts

Performing arts within the programme, with Art and Design and Music and Movement in after-school enrichment.

Sports and Wellbeing

Montessori Sports as a core developmental pillar: movement as intelligence in action.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

Sensorial labs, the mathematics materials and the botany and zoology of the cultural area.

Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship

Practical life problem-solving and the self-directed work that later becomes design thinking.

Peace and movement

Two pillars, lived daily.

At Ardee Montessori Houses, peace is lived daily through calm environments, respectful relationships, and purposeful work that nurtures self-discipline, empathy, and responsibility. Peace education is not a lesson on a timetable; it is the manner of the House.

Movement is treated with the same seriousness. At Ardee Montessori Houses, sports is positioned not as an extracurricular add-on, but as a core developmental pillar aligned with Montessori philosophy, child psychology, and contemporary best practices in movement education. Montessori Sports is anchored in the belief that movement is intelligence in action.

Montessori Sports is designed to
Support gross motor development and neuromuscular coordination
Build executive function through rule-based games
Foster self-discipline, resilience, and teamwork
Encourage joyful, non-competitive engagement with physical activity
